Four books of Johannes Segerus Weidenfeld concerning the secrets of the adepts, or, of the use of Lully's spirit of wine : a practical work, with very great study collected out of the ancient as well as modern fathers of adept philosophy : reconciled together by comparing them one with another, otherwise disagreeing, and in the newest method so aptly digested, that even young practitioners may be able to discern the counterfeit or sophistical preparations of animals, vegetables and minerals, whether for medicines or metals, from true, and so avoid vagabound imposters, and imaginary processes, together with the ruine of estates.

CHARLES the Second by the Grace of God, King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, &c. To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greet∣ing. Whereas JOHANNES SEGERƲS WEIDENFELD Gent. hath by his humble Petition represented unto us, That with much Study, and great Expence he hath composed a Tract De Se∣cretis Adepto••um, which he is desirous to Print in Our Dominions, and hath therefore humbly besought us to grant unto him Our Royal Licence and Priviledge for the sole Printing and Publishing thereof: We have received good Testimony of the Usefulness of the said Tract, and being willing to give all fitting Encouragement to such commendable Works; have thought fit to condescend to that his Request; and We do accordingly hereby grant Our Royal Licence and Priviledge unto him the said JOHANNES SEGERƲS WEIDENFELD, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, for, and during the space of fourteen Years, to be computed from the day of the first setting forth of the same: And Our Royal Will and Pleasure is, and We do hereby Require and Command, That du∣ring the said Term of Fourteen Years, no Printer, Publisher, or other Person whatsoever, being our Subjects, do presume to Imprint, or cause to be Imprinted without the Knowledge and Consent of him the said JOHANNES SEGERƲS WEIDENFELD, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, the aforesaid Tract, or any Part thereof, or to sell the same, or to import into our Kingdom of England any Copies thereof, Imprinted in any Parts beyond the Seas, upon pain of the Loss and Forfeiture of all Copies so Imprinted, Sold, or Imported, contrary to the Tenor of this Our Royal Li∣cence, and of such other Penalties as the Laws and Statutes of this Our Realm will inflict: And of this Our Pleasure, the Master, Wardens and Assistants of the Company of Stationers, are to take Notice, that the same may be Entred in their Register, and due Obedience be yielded thereunto. Given at Our Court at Windsor, the 18th. Day of August 1684. in the Six and Thirtieth Year of Our Reign.
