An Act for the Allowance to the Representatives.

WHereas the several Representatives of the Assembly cannot officiate and discharge that honourable and great Trust reposed in them, without being at great Charge and Expence, Be it therefore Enacted by the Governour and Council, and Representatives convened in General Assembly, and it is hereby Enacted by the Autho∣rity of the same, That the Wages or the Allowance to each Represen∣tative of the People, shall be Ten shillings currant Money of this Province per Diem, to commence from their coming out, till their return Home. Alwayes provided it shall not exceed eight dayes before the meeting of the Assembly, and eight dayes after their adjourning, proroguing or dissolving of the same.

And be it further Enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That each respective City and County throughout this Province, shall bear and defray the Charge of their own Representatives; which Charge or Allowance, as aforesaid, shall be paid to the respective Representatives by the Treasurer of each respective City and County, by warrant under the Hand and Seal of the Mayor of the respective Cities for the time being, and by Warrant of any two Justices of the Peace, to the Trea∣surer of the respective Counties, within ten dayes after the Return of the said Representatives from the Assembly.
