I will add to what I have said, some Rules which are not incoherent to the Subject we Examine; for Example, the 7th and 8th Canons of the Council of Gangres, assembled in the Year of our Lord 325. as is commonly said, but 'twas later; where 'tis forbid to dispose of the Church-Revenue without the consent of the Bishop, or of him he has appointed to distribute these Alms. The 24th and 25th Canons of the Synod of Antioch, Anno Dom. 341. * 1.1 Orders the Bishop to make this distribution by advice of the Priests and Deacons. Charlemain's Capitulary, in the year 789. renews the prohibition of the Council of Gangres.
