Generals.

WEE may be an∣gry, if there∣with we sin not,

The Sun must not go down upon it, Ephes. 4.26.

In suffering it to con∣tinue, we give place to the devil, Eph. 4.27.

It is a foolih thing to be soon angry, Pro. 14.17.

Angry men are proud men, and a high gate seeks destruction, Pro. 17.19.

We ought not to be hasty of Spirit, Eccles. 7.9.

It rests in the bosom of fools, Eccles. 7.9.

There is more hope of a foole, then of one who is hasty in his words, Pro. 29.20.

We should be slow to anger, because the wrath of man doth not accomplish the righte∣ousnesse of God, Jam. 1.19.

It is a sinful thing to be soon angry, Tit. 1.7.

It agues want of dis∣cretion not to passe by anger, it being a mans glory to passe by an of∣fence, Pro. 19.11.

Such stirre up strife, Pro. 15.18.

Their names are proud and haughty scorners, who deale in proud wrath, Prov. 21.24.

It is cruel and raging &c. Pro. 27.4.

As such stir up strife, so do they abound in transgression, Pr. 29.20

It is fierce and cruel, Gen. 49.7.

Companions.

Wrath, malice, blas∣phemy, filthy commu∣nication, Col. 3.8.

Debates, envyings, strifs, backbitings, whi∣sperings, tumults, swel∣lings, 2 Cor. 1.20.

Breeding.

The repeating of a thing separates even very friends, Pro. 17.9.

Hatred stirs up strifes, Pro. 10 12.

Danger.

It killeth the foolish man, Iob 5.2.

It bringeth the pu∣nishment of the sword to teach us there is a judgement.

Such are abominati∣on unto the Lord, Pr. 11.2.

Such froward hearts and perverse tongues fall into mischief, Pro. 17.21.

Such of great wrath shal suffer punishment, because they wil not easily be quiet, Prov. 19.19.

Such find thorns and snares in their way, Pro. 22.5.

God in his wrath and anger causeth the arro∣gancie of the proud to cease, and wil lay low the haughtinesse of the terrible, Isa. 13.11.

Tryals.

The wrath of man shal turn to the praise of God, & the remain∣der of wrath shal he

Such who are slow thereunto, are of great understanding, Prov. 14.29.

Such who are hasty of spirit exalt folly, Pr. 14.29.

Those slow thereun∣to, are better then the mighty; and he who rules his spirit, then he who taketh a city, Pro. 16.23.

Such who love strife, love transgression, Pro. 17.19.

If the wise contend with the foolish, whe∣ther they rage or laugh, there is no rest, Prov. 29.9.

Envy, divisions and strife, are a signe that we are stil carnal men, 1 Cor. 3.3.

The feare of God disclaims it, Pro. 8.13.

Cure.

To be convinced of the sinfulnes and dan∣ger hereof, and not to fret in any case to doe evill, Psal. 37.8.

Motives against it.

That it is an honour∣able thing to cease from strife, Pro. 20.3.

That it is a foolish thing to be medling, Prov. 20.3.

That such who keep their mouthes, keep their souls from trou∣bles, Prov. 21.23.

That it argues great understanding to shun it, Prov. 14.29.

That such of a hasty, spirit doe exalt folly Pro. 14.29.

That it argues much discretion, to passe by anger, Pro. 19.1.

Mitigation.

To leave contenti∣on and strife betimes, seeing they are like a breach of waters un∣stopt, Prov. 17.14.
