LXIII. PEACE.

Generals.

GOD will speak peace to his people but they must not re∣turn again unto iniqui∣tie, Ps. 85.8.

Wicked men are ha∣ters of peace, Ps. 120.6.

We ought to pray for the peace of the Church, Ps. 122.6.

It is the way to pros∣per, idem.

The sight thereof in the Church is a blessed thing, Ps. 128.8.

If it be possible, to our power wee ought to keep peace with all men Rom. 12.18.

Wee should be at peace amongst our selves, 1 Thes. 5.13.

We ought to follow it with holinesse with all men, Heb. 12.

The fruit of righte∣ousnesse is sown there∣in of Peace-lovers, Jam. 3.18.

Wee ought to seek for it, and pursue it, 1 Pet. 3.11.

There is no peace to wicked men, Isa. 57.21

It is a blessed thing to bee a Peace-maker, Matth. 5.9.

We should follow after the things that make peace, and edifie one another, Rom. 14.19.

The danger of wan∣ting it.

It is a grievous thing when God takes away his peace from a peo∣ple, loving kindnesses and mercies, Jer. 16.5.

If wee neglect the present persuit thereof, it may be hid from our eyes, Luke 9.42.

It is a trick of false Prophets to proclaime false peace, Jer. 23.17. Ezek. 13.10.

Trials.

It is a grievous thing to dwel with peace-haters Ps. 102.7.

To be spiritually min∣ded is life and peace, Rom. 8.6.

We should labour to be found of Christ in peace at his coming without spot & blame∣lesse, 2 Pet. 3.14.

It is a bad signe, not to know the way of peace Isa. 59.8.

It is a grievous sin to crie peace, peace, when there is no peace, Jer. 6.14.

It is God who sends no peace, but one man against another, Zech. 8.10.

Gods Covenant with Levi for his fear, was life and peace, Mal. 2.5.

Heavenly wisdome is first pure, then peace∣able, &c. Iam. 3.17. It is God who extends the abundance of peace Isa. 66.12.

There is no peace, saith God, unto the wicked, Isa. 48.18.

When the people are disappointed in peace, it comes of the Lord, Ier. 4.10.

Companions.

Love, joy, long-suffe∣ring, gentlenesse, meek∣nes, saith, Gal. 5.22.

The Gospel is the Gospel of peace, Eph. 6.15.

The unity of the Spi∣rit must be kept in the bond of peace, Ephes. 4.3.

Glory, honour and peace are unto all well-doers, Rom. 2.10.

The feet of such are very beautifull, who preach glad tidings of peace, Rom. 10.15.

That God hath cal∣led us unto peace, 1 Cor. 7.15.

Attaining.

It is the Lord who must blesse his people with peace, Ps. 29.11.

By loving of Gods Law great Peace, and nothing to offend us, Ps. 119.165.

By keeping of Gods commandements, Pro. 3.1.

It was made by Christ by the blood of his Crosse, Col. 1 20.

It is the Lord of peace himselfe, that must give us peace, 2 Thes. 5.16.

The Lord ordaines it, for his people, and works all their works in them, Isa. 26.12.

It is God who cre∣ates the fruit of the lips to be peace, Peace unto all, Isa. 57.19.

It is Christ who guids our feet in the way of peace, Luke 1.79.

It is God who creates peace and evil, &c. Isa. 45.7.

The best way of our strength is to make peace with God, Isa. 27.5.

Afflictions doe at length bring forth the peaceable fruit of righ∣teousnes, Heb. 12.11.

By the peace and pro∣sperity of our superiors and governors, 1 Tim. 2.2.

Faithfull obedience interests us in the pro∣tection of the God of peace, Phil. 4.9.

The God of hope

Keeping.

Christ he guides our feet in the way of peace, Luke 1.79.

It is the God of peace who bruises Satan under our feet, Rom. 16.20.

To have our mindes stayed, trusting in God, is the way to perfect peace, Isa. 26.3.

The peace of God which passeth all under∣standing, it guards our hearts and mindes in Jesus Christ, Phil. 4.7.
