Generals.

A Wise man should not utter vaine knowledge, Iob 15.2.

Fools have a sort of knowledge, Pro. 1.21.

It is wickednesse not

to desire the knowledge of Gods wayes, and bid God depart from us, Iob 21.14.

Our lips should utter knowledge clearly, Iob 33.3.

Prying into Gods councel, darkens coun∣sel without knowledge, Iob 38.2.

Every prudent man dealeth therewith, Pro. 13.16.

We should depart from wicked men, not having the lips of know∣ledge, Pro. 4.7.

It is not good for the soul to bee without knowledge, Prov. 9.2.

He who increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow, Eccles. 1.13.

The most excellent, knowledge is the know∣ledge of Christ crucified 1 Cor. 2.2.

They are foolish who know not the way of the Lord, nor the judg∣ment of their God, Ier. 5.4.

Those who think they know any thing, know nothing yet as they ought to know, 1 Cor. 8.2.

Knowledge and dis∣cretion go together, Pro. 1.4.

Danger of the want thereof.

It is a cause of our destruction, Hos. 4.6.

If unsanctified, it puffs up. 1 Cor. 8.1.

Such are sparing of their words, being of an excellent spirit, Prov. 17.28.

Excellencie.

It is life eternall to know God, and Iesus Christ whom he hath sent, Iohn 17.3.

To grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Iesus Christ, 2 Pet. 3.18.

Trials.

Putting of us in fear, makes us to know that we are but men, Psalm 9.20.

We may know that God loves us, when our enemies do not tri∣umph against us, Psal. 41.11.

Those who love in∣struction, doe love it, Pro. 12.1.

Understanding hearts seek after it, Pro. 15.14.

The lips of such dis∣perse knowledge, Pro. 14.7.

Attaining.

The sight of Gods great workes, should breed it, Psal. 19.2.

To cry after it, to seek it as for silver, and for hid treasures, Pro. 2.34.

Knowledge and un∣derstanding come out of Gods mouth, Pro. 2.6.

The heart of the pru∣dent geteth understand¦ing, and the eare of the wise seeketh it, Pr. 18.15.

Under standing makes us to understand know∣ledge, Pro. 19.25.

Not hearkening un∣to foolish doctrine, not tending to knowledge, Pro. 19.27.

It is Christ who en∣riches us in all utterance & knowledge, 1 Cor. 5.1.
