XXXVIII. Strength of God.

Generals.

IT is he who girds us with strength to the battel, 2 Sam. 22.40.

We should give unto the Lord, glory and strength,

Strength and glad∣nes are in Gods palace, 1 Chron. 16.27.

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength no prospering against him, Job 9.4.

If wee speake of strength, loe he is strong, Job 9.19.

He is mightie in strength and wisdome, Job 38.5.

He is our strength and our redeemer, Ps. 19.14.

He is exalted in his own strength, Ps. 21.13.

He is our strength and our shield, Ps. 28.7

He is the God of our strength, Ps. 43.2.

He is the strength and saving strength of his people, Ps. 28.8.

He is the rock of our strength, Ps. 6.2.

He is the strength of our heart, and our por∣tion for ever, Ps. 73.26.

When he shews strength with his arme, he scatters the proud in the imaginations of their hearts, Luk. 1.51.

Power of his strength.

IT brought the people out of Egypt, Exod. 13.3, 14.

Trials.

It is a cause of our ruine to forget the God of our salvation, and not to be mindfull of the God of our strength, Isa. 17.10.

The Saints in exigents may come to think that their strength and hope are passed from the Lord, Lam. 3.18.

Encouragements.

That the Lord will give strength unto his people, Ps. 29.11.

That he is the Saints strength in the time of trouble, Ps. 37.39.

That wisedome and knowledge makes a man strong, and increase in strength, Pro. 24.5.

That the Lord is our

strength and song, be∣ing become our salvati∣on, Ps. 118.14.

That they who wait upon the Lord, do re∣new their strength, and do mount up with wings as Eagles, Isa. 40.31.

That in the Lord we have righteousnesse and strength, that men shuld come unto him, Isa. 45.24.

That though other helps fail, yet the Saints joy that God is their strength, Isa. 49.5.

That God in dangers saves his people from future danger, by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Isa. 62.8.

That the Lord is our strength, our foretresse, and our refuge in the day of affliction, Jerem. 16.19.

That the Lord is their strength, and will make their feet like Hindes feet, Hab. 3.19.
