XXXVIII. Strength of God.

Generals.

IT is he who girds us with strength to the battel, 2 Sam. 22.40.

We should give unto the Lord, glory and strength,

Strength and glad∣nes are in Gods palace, 1 Chron. 16.27.

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength no prospering against him, Job 9.4.

If wee speake of strength, loe he is strong, Job 9.19.

He is mightie in strength and wisdome, Job 38.5.

He is our strength and our redeemer, Ps. 19.14.

He is exalted in his own strength, Ps. 21.13.

He is our strength and our shield, Ps. 28.7

He is the God of our strength, Ps. 43.2.

He is the strength and saving strength of his people, Ps. 28.8.

He is the rock of our strength, Ps. 6.2.

He is the strength of our heart, and our por∣tion for ever, Ps. 73.26.

When he shews strength with his arme, he scatters the proud in the imaginations of their hearts, Luk. 1.51.

His strength is in the clouds, Ps. 68.34.

He hath a mighty arme, strong is his hand and high is his right hand, Ps. 89.13.

When he marches to save his people, he marches in the great∣nesse of his strength, Isa 63.1.

He hath strength, Pro. 4.18.

Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary, Ps. 96.6.

God is the glory of our strength, Ps. 89.16.

Power of his strength.

IT brought the people out of Egypt, Exod. 13.3, 14.

Those who stumble, hee girds therewith, 1 Sam. 2.4.

The channels of the sea appear, the founda∣tions of the world are discovered at his rebuke and at the blast of the breath of his nostrils, 2 Sam. 22.16.

He delivereth us ther∣by from our strong ene∣mies, 2 Sam. 22.18.

Thereby hee gives strength to his King, and exalts the horn of his anointed, 1 Sam. 2.10.

He is our strength and power, to make our way perfect, 2 Sam. 22.35.

He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Ps. 46 1 He commands strength to his Saints, & streng∣thens that which he hath wrought in us, Ps. 68.28.

Thereby he setteth fast the mountaines be∣ing girded with power Psal. 65.6.

The God of Israel it is he who giveth strength and power to his peo∣ple, Psal. 78.35.

Thereby he divides the sea, cleaves the fountain and the flood and dryes up the migh∣ty waters, Psal. 74.13

Doing wonders, he hath declared his strength, amongst the people, Psal. 77.14.

He hath laid help for the Saints upon one who is mighty, ps. 89 19

He is clothed with strength where with he hath girded himself, ha∣ving thereby set the world that it cannot be moved, Ps. 93.1.

He is God the Lord, the strengh of our sal∣vation who covers our head in the day of bat∣tel, Ps. 140.7.

It he our strengch which teacheth our hands to war, and our fingers to fight, Psal. 144.1.

His way is strength to the upright, Pro. 10.29

We ought to be con∣fident and not fearfull, because the Lord Jeho∣vah is our strength and song, and is become our salvation, Isa. 12.2.

He is strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in their distresse &c. Isa. 25.4.

He is strength to his people, who turn the battell to the gate, Isa. 28.6.

It is he that giveth power to the faint, and to increase strength in them that have no might, Isa. 40.29.

The God of heaven giveth Kings a king∣dom strength and glo∣ry. Dan. 4.32.

To trust in God that strength, Ps. 18.2.

To joy in the Lords strength, Ps. 21.1.

To desire to be judg∣ed by his strength, Ps. 54.1.

To resolve therefore to wait upon God, Ps. 59.9.

Therefore to resolve to sing unto God being our refuge and the God of our mercy, Ps. 59.17.

Therefore to ascribe strength unto God the

Lord, Psalme 71.17.

Therefore to walk in the strength of the Lord God, Ps. 71.17.

Therefore to shew it forth unto their genera∣tion, and his power unto that to come, Ps. 71.18.

To shew unto the generaition to come the praises of the Lord, his strength, and the won∣derfull works that hee hath done, Ps. 78.4.

To pray God to gird up his strength & come and save them, Ps. 80.2.

To sing aloud unto God our strength, Psal. 81.1.

To desire it unto us, Ps. 86.16.

In distresse to cry out unto God for his zeale and his strength, and the sounding of his bowels and his mercy, Isa. 63 15

When in danger the Saints adhere unto o∣ther helps, yet it is in the Lord their God, Zech. 12.5,

Trials.

It is a cause of our ruine to forget the God of our salvation, and not to be mindfull of the God of our strength, Isa. 17.10.

The Saints in exigents may come to think that their strength and hope are passed from the Lord, Lam. 3.18.

Encouragements.

That the Lord will give strength unto his people, Ps. 29.11.

That he is the Saints strength in the time of trouble, Ps. 37.39.

That wisedome and knowledge makes a man strong, and increase in strength, Pro. 24.5.

That the Lord is our

strength and song, be∣ing become our salvati∣on, Ps. 118.14.

That they who wait upon the Lord, do re∣new their strength, and do mount up with wings as Eagles, Isa. 40.31.

That in the Lord we have righteousnesse and strength, that men shuld come unto him, Isa. 45.24.

That though other helps fail, yet the Saints joy that God is their strength, Isa. 49.5.

That God in dangers saves his people from future danger, by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Isa. 62.8.

That the Lord is our strength, our foretresse, and our refuge in the day of affliction, Jerem. 16.19.

That the Lord is their strength, and will make their feet like Hindes feet, Hab. 3.19.
