THe things of the Spirit of God, knoweth no man but the Spirit of God, 1 Cor. 4, 5.

The Lord is the spi∣rit, and where the spi∣rit of the Lord is, there is liberty, 2 Cor. 3.17

None hath directed the spirit of the Lord, nor taught him Isa. 40.18.

Those who professe to live in the spirit, must also walk therein, Gal. 5.25.

There is one body, and one spirit, even as we are called into one hope of our vocation, Eph. 4.4.

The righteousnesse of the law is made per∣fect in such, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit, Rom. 4.8.

If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his, Rom. 8.9

The Saints receive not the spirit of bon∣dage again to feare, but the spirit of adop∣tion to cry Abba fa∣ther, Rom. 8.15.

The Saints in this life, have but the first fruits of the spirit, Rom 8.23.

The Searcher of hearts, knowes what is the minde of the spirit, his intercession being according to the will of God, Rom. 8.27.

The naturall man re∣ceiveth not the things which are of the spirit of God, 1 Cor. 2.14.

No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost 1 Cor. 12.3.

There are diversity, of gifts, but the same spirit, 1 Cor. 12.4.

By one spirit we are baptized into one bo∣dy, &c. and have been all made drink of one spirit, 1 Cor. 12.13.

to the Prophets, 1 Cor. 14.32.

It is impossible to begin in the spirit, and be made perfect by the flesh, Gal. 3.3.

The flesh and spirit lust one against ano∣ther, and are contrary, so that wee cannot do the things which wee would, Gal. 5, 17.

God hath not given us the spirit of feare, but of power, of love, and of a sound minde, 2 Tim. 1.7.

Excellencie.

The ministration of the spirit is more glo∣rious, then that of the ministration of death, 2 Cor. 3.7.

We behold with o∣pen face the glory of God, and are transfor∣med into the same i∣mage from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord, 2 Cor. 3.18.

Because we are sons of God, God hath sent forth the spirit of his Sonne in our hearts, crying Abba father, Gal. 4.6.

In Christ we are built together, to be the habitation of God by the spirit, Eph. 2.22.

Christ grants us ac∣cording to the riches of his glory, to be strengthned with might in the inner man, by his spirit, Eph. 3.16.

Christ offered up himself through the eternall spirit, Heb. 9.14.

The unction of the holy One, makes us to know all things, 1 John 2.20.

We need not to have any man to teach us, but as the anointing

which is from above, that teacheth us all things, 1 Iohn 2.27.

It witnesseth our sal∣vation both in heaven and upon earth, 1 Iohn 5.7.

After Christs ascen∣sion, It made the disci∣ples speak with divers tongues, Acts 2.23.

Nature.

It is a constraining Spirit, Job 32.18.

It is a holy Spirit, Psal. 51.11.

A right Spirit, Psal. 51.10.

It is a free Spirit, Ps. 51.11.

His Spirit is good, Psal. 14.3, 10.

To give life, 2 Cor. 3.6

Ʋse.

Thereby we wait for the hope of righteous∣nesse through faith, Gal. 5.3.

The pouring out thereof makes our old and young men to pro∣phesie, Joel 2.28.

Thereby he garnish∣ed the Heavens, Iob 26.13.

It is the earnest of our inheritance, &c. Ephes. 1.14.

Encouragements.

That there is no con∣demnation unto such as now walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, Rom. 8.1.

That if we fow to the Spirit, we shall of the Spirit reap life ever∣lasting, Gal. 6.7, 8.

That the Spirit is life because of righteousnes Rom. 8.10.

We are built toge∣ther to bee the habi∣tation of GOD by

the Spirit, Gal. 2.32.

Trials.

If it dwell in us, it will quicken our mor∣tall bodies, by that in∣dwelling, Rom. 8.11.

As many as are led thereby, are the sonnes of God, Rom. 8.14.

We are strengthned thereby in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith, to know heavenly mysteries, Eph. 3.16.

We were chosen from the beginning of the world, through sancti∣fication thereof, and the faith of truth, 2 Thes. 2.13.

Our soules are pu∣rified in obeying the truth thereby, 1 Pet. 1.22.

The manifestation thereof is given unto every one to profit by, 1 Cor. 12.7.

Rebellious children cover with a Cover, but not by his spirit to adde sin to sin, Isa. 30.1.

Where it is, there is liberty. 2 Cor. 3.17.

By walking therein, we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, Gal. 5.16.

If we be led thereby, we are not under the law, Gal. 5.18.

We should stand fast in one spirit, con∣tending for the truth of the Gospel, Phil. 1.27.

Wee should love God in the spirit, re∣joicing in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, Phil. 3.3.

Our living accord∣ing to God, is in the spirit, 1 Pet. 4.6.

We know that Christ abideth in us, by the

spirit that he hath given us, 1 John 3.24. and 1 John 4.13.

Offices.

To be our Comfor∣ter, John 14, 15.

To abide with us for ever, John 14.16.

To testifie of Christ John 15.26.

To bear witnesse with our spirit, that we are the Sons of God, Rom. 8.16.

To convince the world of sin.

Of righteousnes & of judgement, Ioh. 16.9 10

To guide us in all truth, Iohn 16.13.

To search and reveal even the deep things of God. 1 Cor. 2.12.

To shew things to come, Iohn 16.13.

To receive of Christs and shew unto us, Ioh. 16.14.

Not to speak of his own, but what he shal heare, 1 Iohn 16.13.

To teach us all things 1 Iohn 16.

To be a continuall directing voice behind us, Isa. 30.21.

To search and reveal all things, even the deep things of God, 1 Cor. 2.10.

To dwell in Gods children, 1 Cor. 3.16.

By the commanding power thereof, to free us from the Law of sin and of death, Rom. 8.2. 1 Cor. 5.

To help our infir∣mities in prayer, with unspeakable sighs and gronings, Rom. 8.28.

To seal us with the holy spirit of promise, Eph. 1 13.14.

To seal us up unto the day of redemption, Eph. 4.30.

Fruits

Love, Ioy, Peace,

Long-suffering, Gen∣tlenesse, Goodnesse, Faith, Meeknesse, tem∣perance, Gal. 5.22.23.

Goodnesse, in all Righteousnes and truth Ephes. 5.9.

Attaining.

It is not received by the works of the law, but by the hearing of faith, Gal. 3.2.

God gives the ear∣nest thereof, 2 Cor 5.5

The spirit of wise∣dome and Revelation, is given through the knowledge of Christ, to open the eyes of our understanding, Eph. 17.18.

Keeping.

By not grieving the holy Spirit of God, whereby we are sealed up unto the day of re∣demption, Eph. 4.30.

By putting away all bitternesse, and wrath; and anger, and clamor and evil speaking with all malice.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted and forgiving even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven us, Eph. 3.32.

By not quenching the spirit, 1 Thes. 5.

By preserving the unity thereof in the bond of peace. Eph. 4.3

Danger, Of Omission.

It is a branch of the unpardonable sinne to despite the spirit of grace, Heb. 10.39.
