Dureing the Celebration of the Sa∣crament.

[The Elements being consecrated, whilst others are receiving, say as many of the following prayers as you can till you come to receive your self.]

O Merciful God, grant that the old Adam may be so buried, that the new man may be raised up in me. Amen.

Grant that all carnal affections may die in me, and that all things belonging to the Spirit may live and grow in me. Amen.

Grant that I may have power and strength to have victory, and to triumph against the devil, the world, and the flesh. Amen.

Grant that I, and all those who are now dedi∣cating themselves to thee at thy holy Table, may also be endued with heavenly vertues, and everlastingly rewarded, through thy mer∣cy, O blessed Lord God, who dost live and govern all things, world without end. Amen.

O God, the Father of heaven, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.

O God the Son, redeemer of the world, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.

Page 65

O God the holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.

O holy, blessed, and glorious Trinity, three persons and one God, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.

Remember not, Lord, our offences, nor the offences of our fore-fathers, neither take thou vengeance of our sins: Spare us good Lord, spare thy people whom thou hast redeemed with thy most precious blood, and be not an∣gry with us for ever.

From all evil and mischief, from sin, from the crafts and assaults of the devil, from thy wrath, and from everlasting damnation, Good Lord deliver us.

From all blindness of heart; from pride, vain-glory, and hypocrisie; from envy, ha∣tred, and malice, and all uncharitableness, Good Lord deliver us.

May it please thee, good Lord, to give us an heart to love and dread thee, and diligently to live after thy commandments.

May it please thee to give to all thy people increase of grace, to hear meekly thy word, and to receive it with pure affection, and to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit.

May it please thee to bring into the way of truth all such as have erred and are de∣ceived.

Page 66

May it please thee to strengthen such as do stand, and to comfort an help the weak heart∣ed, and to raise up them that fall and finally to beat down Satan under our feet.

May it please thee to succour, help, and comfort all that are in danger, necessity, and tribulation; to defend and provide for the fatherless children and widows, and all that are desolate and oppressed.

May it please thee to have mercy upon all men; to forgive all our enemies, persecutors, and slanderers, and to turn their hearts.

May it please thee to give us all true re∣pentance, to forgive us all our sins, negli∣gences, and ignorances, and to endue us with the grace of thy holy spirit, to amend our lives according to thy holy word.

Son of God, I beseech thee to hear me.

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world; Grant us thy peace.

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world; Have mercy upon us.

O Saviour of the world, who by thy cross and precious blood, hast redeemed us; save us, and help us, we humbly beseech thee, O Lord.

ALmighty God, I beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be be∣trayed,

and given up into the hands of wick∣ed men, and to suffer death upon the Cross, who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.

ALmighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified; Receive my suppli∣cations and prayers which I offer before thee for all estates of men in thy holy Church, that every member of the same in his vocation and Ministry, may truly and godly serve thee, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor wouldst the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all Jews, Turks, Infidels, and Hereticks; and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy word; and so fetch them home, Blessed Lord, to thy flock that they may be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites, and be made one fold under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

ALmighty God, who shewest to them that be in errour the light of thy truth, to the intent that they may return into the way of righteousness; Grant unto all them that are admitted into the fellowship of Christs Reli∣gion, that they may eschew those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

O Lord, from whom all good things do come; Grant to us thy humble servants, that by thy holy inspiration we may think those things that be good, and by thy merci∣ful guiding may perform the same, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

O God, who hast taught the hearts of thy faithful people, by sending to them the light of thy holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

O God, who declarest thy Almighty power most chiefly in shewing mercy and pity; Mercifully grant unto us such a measure of thy grace, that we running the

way of thy commandments, may obtain thy gracious promises, and be made partakers of thy heavenly treasure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, who knowest us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot alwaies stand upright; Grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temp∣tations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, whose blessed Son was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the Devil, and make us the Sons of God, and heirs of eternal life; Grant us, I beseech thee, that having this hope, we may all purifie our selves, even as he is pure; that when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

ALmighty God, who hast given thine only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample of godly life; Give us grace, that we may alwaies most thankfully

receive that his most inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour our selves to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

[If you have not said over all these prayers when the Minister is ready to tender unto you the Bread, then after receiving it, go on with the rest till he is coming to give you the Cup. If any yet remain unsaid, you may place them as is hereafter directed. But if they should not hold out till the Cup is at hand, you may supply that interval from some of the Scripture Meditations at the end of This Service.
