Chronological Tables of se∣veral Matters contained in this Harmony of the Times.

Together with diverse Illustrations, necessary Repetitions, and ad∣ditions of new Points.

GENERAL TABLES. The Years of Years.

Each of them is of 365 Solary years, which are as many years as there are days in a year.

THe first year of years doth end then in the 365 year of the World, of the Sun, and of Adam.

The second year of years endeth at the

Page 160

year of the world 730, was just 200 years before the death of Adam, for he died in the year 930. Thus the first man went two Ages beyond the second year of years.

The third, fourth, and fifth year of years ended within the life of Noah: That Patriarch saw the end of three years of years, two before the Flood, and one after.

The sixth year of years ended at the year 2190, which was seven years after the death of Abraham.

The seventh year of years ended at the year 2555, then did the Sun stand still; as he was ending his seventh year of years, he observed a Sabbath for the space of a whole day.

The eighth and ninth year of years ended in the year 3285; and the year following, which was in the year 3286, began the tenth year of years. Now in the tenth year of this tenth year of years, in the year 3295, the Sun went back by ten degrees. Thus his going back of ten degrees came to pass the tenth year of his tenth year of years. The Sun then in some sort paid, as it were, a Tenth or Tithe to his Creator.

The Prophetical years, each of them is of 360 Solary years.

THe first and second Prophetical year ended in the year of the world 720, when Enoc, the seventh man after Adam, (and who prophesied) was 14 weeks of years old, and when his son Methuselah, who lived the longest of all men, was 33 years of age, the number of the years of Christ upon earth.

The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth Pro∣phetical year expired in the year 2160; it was 77 years after the Promise.

The seventh Prophetical year ended at the year 2520, it was seven years after the coming out of Egypt.

The eighth, ninth, and tenth Propheti∣cal year ended in the year 3600, and then also ended the writing of the Old Testa∣ment; and from thence to the death of Christ, in the year 3960, there passed just another Prophetical year, which was the eleventh.

Page 162

The three and thirty Periods of 120 years, expired in the 33th and the last year of the abode of Christ upon earth.

THe most remarkable are the three following.

The five and twentieth, which ended the same year wherein the building of the first Temple was finished, viz. in the year 3000: for there had been 25 times 120 years since the Creation.

The thirtieth, which ended with the tenth Prophetical year, in the year 3600. But as the number of those periods an∣swereth the number of the years of Christ, we are here to mark a notable difference; at the end of this thirtieth period of 120 years, the History of the Old Testament stopped, the Prophetical Inspirations ceased, and the holy Ghost forbore to come down any more in an extraordinary manner. But at the beginning of the thirtieth year of Christ, the holy Ghost came down upon him with Majesty, and the voice of God, which was not heard before in so long a time, caused it self to be most distinctly understood.

The three and thirtieth Period of 120 years was accomplished in the 33th. year of Christ.

The Septenaries of Years since the credtion of the first Adam, to the conception of the Second.

THis Catalogue begins with the first seven years of the world, after∣wards there are seven times seventy years. this cometh into the year 497. Afterwards there are seven times seventy weeks of years, this cometh into the year 497. Afterwards there are seven times seventy weeks of years, or otherwise seven seven∣ties of weeks of years, which follow the year of the world 497.

Of these seven seventies, here are the most remarkable in their closure.

The first endeth at the translation of Enoc, the seventh man after Adam, in the year 987.

The sixth endeth at the Captivity of Babylon, in the year 3437. After which year, for the fulfilling of the seventy years of the Captivity, there passed yet thirty three years, as many years as Christ afterward abode upon earth.

Page 164

The seventh and last seventieth ended at the year of the Conception of Christ, in the year 3927, after the Promise con∣cerning the Seed of the Woman. Now 3927 years are seven years, seven times seventy years, and seven seventies of weeks of years.

Seven times seventy weeks of years, followed by forty years more, ended the Captivity of Babylon: And seventy weeks of years, followed by forty years, ended the State of the Jews, in the destructi∣on of the second Temple.

THe seven times seventy weeks from the Creation of the world, ended in the year 3430, which was the thirtieth year of the Captivity. From thence to the end of the Captivity, which was in the year 3470, there were forty years.

From the end of the Captivity to the death of Christ, there passed seventy weeks of years, which were one seventh

Page 165

in comparison of the years which had run to the thirtieth year of the Captivity. The death of Christ made the year 3960 re∣markable.

And from the death of Christ to the destruction of the second Temple, there were forty years.

Thus, between the seven seventies of weeks, fulfilled since the Creation, and the seventy weeks that ran to the death of Christ, there was an interval of forty years. And again, between the end of the seventy weeks, and the destruction of the second Temple, an interval of forty years.

The tenth and last part of all the time which ran from the Cre∣ation to the burning of the second Temple; that Tenth subdivided into another Tenth, and the illustrious marks which have distingui∣guished them from the other times.

THe second Temple was destroyed in the year 4000, the last 400 of that

Page 166

sum were the tenth part of it. These last 400 years did begin when the year 3600 ended; now the year 3600 ended the Hi∣story of the Old Testament, and the tenth Prophetical year. Thus these last 400 years began at the close of the Hi∣story of the old Testament, and ended by the suppression of the Ceremonies of the Old Testament in the destruction of the second Temple; and these last 400 years were the tenth of the age of the world when the Temple was destroyed.

Again, these last 400 years were de∣cimated; for their tenth and last part, which was of forty years, began at the death of Christ, and ended in the de∣struction of the Temple.
