SERMON II.
Obj. But some may say, Is there any such thing as a pure heart? We find those questions somewhat rife in the Book of Job, What is man, that he should be clean? So in Chap. 15. 14. Or how can he be clean, that is born of a woman? Chap. 25. 4. And Solomon saith ex∣presly, in Prov. 20. 9. Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? It is plain then by these Scriptures, that there is no such thing as a pure heart.
