SECT. VIII.

ABout this time certain persons who had the gift of Pro∣phesie, and foretelling future things; came from Jeru∣salem to Antioch; one of whom (by name(a) 1.1 Agabus) by revelation from the Spirit of God, foretold that there would shortly be a great famine(b) 1.2 over all Judea, and several other parts of the world,(c) 1.3 which according∣ly came to pass in the reign of the Emperor Claudius; The Christians therefore of Antioch, resolved to send relief to their Brethren the Christians in Judea, in this time of dearth(d) 1.4; and having gathered it, sent it to the Elders(e) 1.5 of those Churches(f) 1.6 by the hands of Barnabas and Saul; who having performed this their charge, returned again to Antioch taking with them John whose sirname was Mark, Nephew to* 1.7 Barnabas.

Act. 11. v. 27. And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto An∣tioch.

v. 28. And there stood up one of them, named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit, that there should be great dearth thorowout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cesar.

v. 29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judea.

v. 30. Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Bar∣nabas and Saul.

Act. 12. v. 25. And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose sirname was Mark.
