Praecursor Johannis vox verbum praecurrit, vox adhortatoria prae∣parans ad salutem, vox adhortans, ad haereditatem Coelorum per quam sterilis & deserta non est infertilis.

This shews what the work of this Ministery was, even onely to prepare for, and perswade men of the necessity there was to become members of the Church, and to be of the society of the Saints, that the barren and the desert souls may not be unfruitful, he alluding herein to Johns preaching in the wilderness of Judea.
