EXPERIMENT III.

THE foregoing Experiment being repeated, we found that a Bubble, whose Diameter was 1/16 of an Inch in Diameter, when expanded, possessed the whole Space of the Ball, as well as Neck of the Bolt-head, and depress'd the Sur∣face of the Water within the Pipe, below the Surface of the stagnant Water.

From these Experiments it appears, that ac∣cording to the most moderate Estimate, Air expanded will possess 2744 times it's natural Space, and according to our most successful

Experiments 13000. So that we may justly ad∣mire the Minuteness of those Aerial Instru∣ments, that she employs even about Visible O∣perations.
