XX. Pasta Hippiatri, A Paste or Horse-Medicine for Farriers.

Bate.] ℞ Pouders of Fenu∣greek, Aniseed, Cuminseed, Car∣thamus Elecampane, Colts-foot, Flowers of Sulphur, A. ℥ij. Juice of Liquorice (dissolved in White-wine lbss.) ℥j. Oil-Olive, Honey, A. ℥viij. Genua Treacle ℥xij. Oil of Aniseeds ℥j. mix all together, and with Wheat-meal lbiss. vel q. s. make a Paste, S. A. of which make Balls about the bigness of a Man's Fist. Dissolve one of them in cold Water q. s. letting the Horse drink it all

up at a time; this do Morn∣ing and Evening, for fifteen days; in which time it will certainly cure such Horses as are troubled with Asthma's, Coughs, and several other in∣ternal Diseases: it makes such fat as are wasted and poor, and makes healthy such as are infirm and diseased.

Salmon.] § 1. This Medi∣cine will do much better in a strong Decoction of Ground Malt, Anglicè-Wort, and gi∣ven as hot as 'tis convenient for the Beast to take it in.

§ 2. And to speak without any thing of a Complement, it is a good thing for what it is intended, and beyond ma∣ny other Horse-Medicines, much valued and esteemed in the World.
