Bate.] ℞ Plantane-water ℥iij. red Rose-water ℥j. Whites of Eggs (reduced Glaire) N^o iij. Sugar-candy ℥j. mix and make a Gargarism. Otherwise thus. ℞ Roots of Althea ʒiij. Quince-Seeds ʒjss. Barley-water lbijss. boil to lbjss. towards the end add Liquorice scraped or rasp∣ed ʒij. Strain and add Glair of Eggs, N^o ij. Sugar-candy, ℥ ij. mix and make a Gar∣garism. With which the Mouth is often to be wash'd and gargled, and by degrees a little of it swallowed for the Thrush, &c.

Salmon.] § 1. Either of them are cooling and clean∣sing, and leave the Mouth moist in the heat of a Fea∣ver.

§ 2. But if it be used for the curing of a Thrush, or sore Mouth, a Decoction of Balaustians would do better than the Barley-water, add∣ing also a little Spirit of Wine.
