LEt thy writ bee seldome dispersed, but ra∣ther compact; which will better consist in joyning closelie together of letters or syl∣lables within wordes, than eyther of wordes
The new invention, intituled, calligraphia: or, the arte of faire writing vvherein is comprehended the whole necessarie rules thereof; by which anie who is capable and carefull to learne, may without the helpe of any other teacher, under God, both bee informed concerning the right writing of the most usuall characters in the world; and perfectly instructed how to write one of the most frequent in Europe, called the secretarie. ... with wordes, or lines with lines: Except at sometimes, when thou art driven to anie ex∣treamitie, through straitnesse, or lacke of rowme, it will be tollerable to use the last com∣pendious meanes, as well as the first: and that by studying seriouslie to containe thy matter in such little boundes as thou hast, (avoyding onelie confusion) than eyther to hazard the va∣lour thereof, or haue thy labour lost: yea, or anie wayes disgraced.
