¶ The Lorde commaundeth to spoyle the Egypti∣ans. The deth of all the first begotten in Egypt.
CAPI. XI.
ANd the Lorde sayde vnto Moses: yet [ A] wyll I brynge one plage more vpon Pharao and vpon Egypte / and after that he wyll let you go hence. And when he letteth you go, he shal vtterly dryue you hēce. But byd the people that euery man borowe of his frende, and euery woman of her neygh∣bour, iewels of syluer and iewels of golde. And the Lorde gate the people fauour in the syght of the Egyptians.* 1.1 Moreouer* 1.2 Mo∣ses was verye greate in the lande of Egypte, bothe in the syght of Pharao, and also in the syght of the people.
And Moses sayde: thus sayth the Lorde [ B] * Aboute mydnyght wyll I go out amonge the Egyptians / and all the fyrste borne in the lande of Egypte shall dye: euen from the fyrst borne of Pharao, that sytteth on his feare, vnto the fyrst borne of the mayde seruaunte that is in the mylle / and all the fyrst borne of the catell. And there shall be a greate crye thorowe out the lande of Egypte: so that there was neuer none lyke, nor shall be. And [ C] amonge all the chyldren of Israel shall not a dogge moue his tonge / nor yet man or beest: that ye maye knowe howe the Lorde put∣teth a difference bytwene the Egyptians and Israel. and these thy seruauntes shall come downe vnto me, and fall before me, and saye: get the out and all the people that are vnder the, and then wyl I departe. And he went out from Pharao in a great anger.
And the Lorde sayde vnto Moses: Pha∣rao [ D] shall not regarde you, that many wonders may be wrought in the lande of Egypte. And Moses and Aaron dyd all these wonders be∣fore Pharao. But the Lorde hardened Pha∣raos herte, so that he wolde not let the chyl∣dren of Israel go out of his lande.
