¶ Chryst clenseth the leper / healeth the capteyns ser¦uaunt, and many other diseases / helpeth Peters mo∣ther in law / stylleth the see and wynde, and dryueth the deuyls out of the possed in to the swyne.
CAPI. VIII.
WHen he was come downe from the moū¦tayne, [ A] moche people folowed hym.* 1.1 And lo / there came a leper and worshypped hym, saying. Master yf thou wylte, thou canst make me clene. And Iesus put forth his hande and touched him saying: I wyl, be thou clene / and forthwith his leprye was clensed. And Ie∣sus sayde vnto hym: se thou tell no man / but go, and shewe thy selfe to the preest / and* 1.2 of∣fer the gyfte that Moses commaunded in wit∣nes to them.
✚ When Iesus was entred in to Caper∣naum, there came to hym a certayne Centu∣rion, and besought hym sayinge:* 1.3 Master, my seruaunt lyeth sycke at home of the palsye, and is greuously payned. And Iesus sayd vnto hym: I wyll come and heale hym. The Cen∣turion answered and sayd: Syr I am not wor¦thy that thou sholdest come vnder my rofe, but speake the worde onely, and my seruaunt shall be healed. For I also my selfe am a man vnder the power of an other, and haue soudyers vn∣der me, and I say to one go, and he goeth / and to an other come, and he cometh / and to my ser¦uaunt, do this, & he doth it. When Iesus herde that▪ he merueyled, and said to them that folo∣wed hym: Veryly I say vnto you, I haue not founde so great fayth, no, not in Israel.* 1.4 I say therfore vnto you, that many shall come from the eest and west, and shal rest with Abraham, Isaac, and Iacob, in the kyngdome of heauen: but the chyldren̄ of the kyngdome shall be cast out in to vtter darknes: there shall be weping and gnasshyng ofreth. Then Iesus sayd vnto the* 1.5 Centurion, go thy way / and as thou bi∣leuest, so be it vnto the. And his seruaunt was healed the selfe houre. ⊦
And then Iesus went to Peters house, and sawe his wyues mother lying sycke of a feuer, and touched her hande, and the feuer left her / and she arose and ministred vnto them
When the euen was come, they brought vnto hym many that were possessed with de∣uyls. And he cast out the sprites with a worde, and healed all that was sycke / to fulfyll, that was spoken by Esaye the Prophete, sayinge: [ C] * 1.6 He toke on hym out infirmytyes, and bare our sycknesses.
When Iesus sawe moche people aboute hym / he commaunded to go ouer the water And there came a Scrybe and sayd vnto hym.* 1.7 Master, I wyll folowe the whyther so euer thou goest. And Iesus sayde vnto hym: the foxes haue holes / and the byrdes of the ayer haue nestes / but the sonne of man hathe not wheron to rest his heed.* 1.8 An other that was of his discyples sayd vnto hym: Mayster, suffre me fyrst to go and burye my father. But Iesus sayd vnto hym, folowe me, and let the deed bu¦rye theyr deed.
✚ And he entred in to a shyp, and his discy∣ples folowed hym. And beholde there arose a greate tempest in the see / in so moche that the shyp was couered with waues / but he slepte. And his discyples came to hym, and awoke hym, sayinge: Master saue vs, we perysshe.
