THen Sisennes the vndershreue in Ce∣losyria, [ A] and Phenyces, and the other Landlordes with theyr companyons, abeyed the thinges that kynge Darius had ordeyned, were dylygent in the holy workes and were felow helpers with the olde rulers of the Iewes. And so the worke of the Sanctu¦ary went forth and prospered, when Aggeus and Zachary prophecyed.

And they performed all thinges thorow the commaundement of the Lorde God of Israel, and after the deuyce of Cyrus, Dari∣us, and Artaxerxes kinges of persia.

And thus was oure house fynysshed vnto [ B] the .xxiij. daye of the moneth Adder in the .vi. yeare of kynge Darius. And the chyldren of Israel the prestes and the Leuites, and the other that were come out of captyuyte, and such as were ioyned vnto them, dyd accor∣dynge as it is wrytten in the boke of Moses And in the dedycation of the temple they of∣fred an hundred oxen, an hundred rammes .iiij. hundreth lambes, and .xij. gootes for the synnes of all the people of Israell, after the nombre of the trybes of Israel. The preestes also & the Leuites stode arayed in the prestly garmentes, after the trybes, ouer al the wor¦kes of the Lorde God of Israel accordynge to the boke of Moses, and the porters by all the dores.

And the chyldrē of Israel (with those that [ C] were come out of captyuyte) helde the passo∣uer the .xiiij. daye of the fyrste moneth, when the prestes and the Leuites were sanctyfyed. They that came out of captyuite, were not all sanctifyed together: but the Leuites were all sanctifyed together. Also all they that came out of captyuite, kylled y^e easter lambe, for theyr brethren, for the prestes and for thē selues. And the chyldren of Israel that came out of captiuite. and escaped from all the ab∣hominacyons of y^e Heathē, sought the Lord, [ D] and kepte the feaste of vnleuened bread .vii.

dayes longe, eatyng and drynkyng and were mery before the Lorde: that the Lorde had turned the deuyce of the kinge of Assiria, and comforted their handes to the workes of y^e Lorde God of Israel.
