¶ By the foure charettes, he descrybeth the pros∣perytye of the foure kyngdomes.

CAPI. VI.

MOreouer I turned me, lyfting vp myne [ A] eyes and loked:* 1.1 and behold there came foure charettes out from betwixt two hylles, whiche hylles were of brasse: In the fyrste charet were redde horse, in the seconde charet were blacke horse, in the thyrde charet were whyte horse, in the fourth charet were horses of dyuers colours, and stronge. Then spake I, and sayd vnto the aungell that tal∣ked with me: O Lorde, what are these: The aungell aunswered and sayd vnto me:* 1.2 These are the foure wyndes of the heauen, whiche be come forthe to stande before the ruler of all the erth.

That with the blacke horse wente in to [ B] the lande hf the Northe, and the whyte folo∣lowed theym, and the speckled horses wente forth towarde the South. These horses were verye stronge, and went oute, and soughte to go and take their iourney ouer the hole erth. And he sayd: get you hence, and go thorowe the worlde. So they wente thorowe oute the worlde. Then cryed he vpon me, and spake vn to me, saying: behold: these that go toward the North, shall styll my wrath in the North countrey.

And the worde of the Lorde came vnto me, [ C] saying: Take of the prysoners that are come from Babylon: namely Heldai, Tobiah, and Idaia: and come thou the same daye, and go in to the house of Iosiah the son of Sophony. Thē take gold and siluer, and make crownes therof, and set them vpon the heed of Iesus y^e son of Iesedech the hye preest and speke vnto him: thus sayth the Lord of hostes:* 1.3 Behold the man whose name is the braunche, and he that shal spring vp after him, shal buylde vp the temple of the Lorde / yea euē he shal buylde the temple of the Lorde.* 1.4 He shal beare y^e praise he shall syt vpon the Lordes trone, and haue the dominacion.

A preest shal he be also vpon his trone, and [ D] a peaceable counsell shall be betwixte theym both.* 1.5 And the crownes shall be in the temple of the Lorde, for a remembraunce vnto He∣lem, Tobiah, Idaia, and Hen the sonne of Sophony. And such as be farre of, shall come and buylde the temple of the Lorde, that ye maye knowe how that the Lorde of Hoostes

hath sent me vnto you. And this shall come to passe, yf ye wyl harken diligently vnto the voyce of the Lorde your God.
