¶ The prophete is sende to call agayne the people from theyr errour.

CAPI. II.

ANd then sayde he vnto me: Stande vp vpon thy fete (o thou sonne of mā) [ A] & I wyl talke with the. And as he was cōmunyng with me,* 1.1 the spirite came in to me and set me vp vpon my fete: so that I mar∣ked the thyng, y^t he sayd vnto me. And he said: Beholde, thou sonne of man: I wyll sende the to the chyldren of Israel, to those runna∣gates and obstinate people: for they haue taken parte agaynst me, and are runne away fro me: both they and their forefathers vn∣to this daye.

[ B] Yea I wyll sende the vnto a people that haue rough vysages and styffe stomackes:* 1.2 vnto whom thou shalte saye on this maner: This the Lorde God him selfe hath spoken, that whether they be obedyēt or no (for it is a frowarde housholde) they maye knowe yet that there hathe bene a Prophete amonge them.

[ C] Therfore (thou sonne of man) feare them not,* 1.3 neither be afrayed of their wordes: for they shall rebell agaynste the, and despyse the.

Yea thou shalte dwell amonge scorpions: but feare not their wordes, be not abasshed [ D] at their lokes, for it is a frowarde hous∣holde.

Se that thou speake my wordes vnto thē, whether they be obedyēt or not, for they are obstynate. Therfore thou sonne of man, obey thou all thynges, that I saye vnto the, & be not thou styfnecked, lyke as they are a styf∣necked housholde. Open thy mouth and eate that I giue the.
