¶ The porters of the temple are ordeyned euerye man to the gate whiche he shulde kepe.

THe diuisyon of the porters amonge the [ A] Corehites: Meselemiah the son of Ko∣reh of the chyldren of Asaph.
And the sonnes of Meselemiah were these: Zachariah the eldest / Iadiel the seconde, Za∣badiah the thyrde / Iathaniel the fourthe / E∣lam the fyfte / Iohanan the syxte / Elidenai the .vij. And Obed Edom had sonnes Semei∣ah the eldest / Iosabad the seconde / Ioah the thyrde / Sacar the fourthe / Nathanael the fyfte / Ami••i the syxte / Isachar the seuenth / and Polathai the eyghte / for God hadde bles∣sed him.
And vnto Semeiah his sonne, were sonnes borne that ruled in the house or their father / for they were men of myghte. The sonnes of Semeiah: Othni, Raphael, Obed and Elza∣bad, and his brethren men o•• actiuitie, Elihu and Samachiah. All these were of the chyldrē of Obed Edom, whiche with their brethren and theyr chyldren, actiue men, and of strength [ B] to doo seruyce, 〈◊〉〈◊〉 thre score and two of Obed Edom. And they caste lottes, the smalle as well as the greate in the hous∣holdes of theyr fathers, frome gate to gate. And the East lotte fell to Selemeiah. And for Zachariah his sonne a wyse counseylloure, they caste lottes / and his lotte came oute to∣warde the Northe. And Obed Edoms lot fell to the Southe. And to his sonnes fellφ 1.1 the counsell houses. And to Suphim and Hosah fell the West with the gate Salecheth, where the waye goeth vpwarde, the one waye being fast by the other.
In the East kept sixe Leuites: in the North foure a daye, and in the South foure a daye, & in euery counsell house two, &φ 1.2 in the watche houses on the hyghe waye westwarde foure: two in a house.
