ANd the hole congregaciō of the childrē [ A] of Israel came togyther at Siloh, and set vp the tabernacle of wytnesse there, and the lande was in subiection before them. But there remayned amonge the children of Israel seuen trybes which had not their enhe∣ritaunce deuyded out. And Iosua sayde vnto the children of Israell, howe longe are ye so slacke to go and possesse the lande whiche the Lorde God of your fathers hath gyuen you? chose ye of euery trybe three men that I maye sende them. And that they may ryse and walk thorow the land and vew it after the inhabi∣tantes therof & come agayn to me. Deuide it [ B] into vij. partes. For Iuda shal abyde by their costes in the south, & the house of Ioseph shal stande to their coostes in the northe, Describe ye the lande therfore into .vij. partes, & bryng the description to me hyther, that I maye cast lottes for you here before the Lorde our God The Leuites haue no parte amonge you for ye preastshyp of the Lorde is their enheritaunce.* 1.1 And Gad, Ruben, and halfe the trybe of Ma¦nasses haue receyued their enheritaūce beyōd Iordan eastwarde, which Moses the seruaūt of the Lorde gaue them.
And the men arose and went their waye. And Iosua charged them that went to descri∣be the land sayeng: hence & go thorow ye land & describe it, & come agayne to me hyther: and I will cast lottes for you before the Lorde in Siloh. And the men departed, & walked tho∣row the lande and described it by cyties into seuen partes in a boke, and retourned to Io∣sua into the host at Siloh. And Iosua cast lot¦tes for theym in Siloh before the Lorde, and there he deuyded the lande vnto the children of Israell, into seuen partes to eche their por¦cion. And the first lot of the trybe of the chil∣dren [ C] of BenIamin came vp accordynge to their kynredes. And the coostes of their lotte came out betwene the children of Iuda, and the children of Ioseph. And their north costes were frome Iordan and went vp to the syde of Iericho on the northsyde, and went vp tho¦row the mountaynes westwarde, and they en¦ded at the wyldernesse of Bethauen: & went frome thence to the southsyde of Lus, other¦wyse called Bethel: and descēded to Ataroth Adar vpon the hil that lyeth on the southsyde of the nether Bethoron. And the weste cooste draweth and compaseth southwarde, euen frome the hyll that lyeth before Bethoron, &
