Psalm 324.

HAd not the Lord been on our side, may Israel now confess, [verse 2] Had not the Lord been on our side in time of our distress, [verse 3] When they against us rose inflam'd with rage and cruelty, Like rav'nous beasts they us alive had swallow'd suddenly.
[verse 4] Then had their force orewhelm'd our souls, like to a mighty floud [verse 5] Of swelling waves, or raging streams, that cannot be withstood. [verse 6] Then alwaies praised be the Lord, whose mercies ever live, A prey to their devouring teeth, our souls who did not give.
[verse 7] For when our souls like harmless birds were snared in that net, That crafty fowlers secretly had round about us set; Our gracious God lookt down from heav'n and brake that secret gin, And wondrously did we escape that were ensnar'd therein.

[verse 8] The hope of all dot help did stand in thy most holy name, Our gracious God, who by thy power didst earth and heaven frame.
