PSAL. XLV. To the chief musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, a song of loves.

MY heart brings forth a goodly thing: my works that I endite Concern the King: my tongue's a pen of one that swift doth write. Thou fairer art then sons of men:Line 2 into thy lips is store Of grace infus'd; God therefore thee hath blest for evermore.

O thou that art the mighty One,Line 3 thy sword gird on thy thigh: Ev'n with thy glory excellent, and with thy Majestie. For meeknesse, truth and righteousnesse,Line 4 in state ride prosperouslie: And thy right hand shall thee instruct in things that fearfull be.

Thine arrows sharply pierce the heartsLine 5 of th'enemies of the King; And under thy subjection the people down do bring. For ever and for ever is,Line 6 O God, thy throne of might: The scepter of thy Kingdome is a scepter that is right.

Thou lovest right, and hatest ill:Line 7 for God, thy God most hie Above thy fellows hath, with th'oyl of joy, anointed thee. Of aloes, myrrhe, and cassia,Line 8 a smell thy garments had; Out of thy ivorie palaces, whereby they made thee glad.

Among thy women honourableLine 9 Kings daughters were at hand: Upon thy right hand did the queen, in gold of Ophir stand. O daughter, hearken and regard,Line 10 and do thine ear incline; Likewise forget thy fathers house, and people that are thine.

Then of the King desir'd shall beLine 11 thy beautie vehemently: Because he is thy Lord, do thou him worship reverently. The daughter there of Tyre shal be,Line 12 with gifts and offrings great: Those of the people that are rich thy favour shall intreat.

Behold the daughter of the KingLine 13 all glorious is within; And, with embroyderies of gold, her garments wrought have bin. She shall be brought unto the King,Line 14 in robes with needle wrought: Her fellow-virgins following, shall unto thee be brought.

They shall be brought with gladnesse great,Line 15 and mirth on every side, Into the palace of the King, and there they shall abide. In stead of those thy fathers dear,Line 16 thy children thou mayst take, And in all places of the earth, them noble Princes make.

Thy Name remembred I will make,Line 17 through ages all, to be: The people therefore evermore shall praises give to thee.

For meeknesse, truth and right,Line 4 ride prosperously in state: And thy right hand shall teach to thee things terrible and great. Thy shafts shall pierce their heartsLine 5 that foes are to the King: Whereby into subjection the people thou shalt bring.

Thy royall seat, O Lord▪Line 6 for ever shall remain: The scepter of thy Kingdom doth all righteousnesse maintain. Thou loves right, and hates ill:Line 7 for God, thy God most hie, Above thy fellows hath with th'oyl of joy anointed thee.

Of myrrhe and spices sweetLine 8 a smell thy garments had: Out of thy ivorie palaces, whereby they made thee glad. And, in thy glorious train,Line 9 Kings daughters waiting stand: And thy fair queen, in Ophir gold, doth stand at thy right hand.

O daughter, take good heed,Line 10 incline, and give good ear; Thou must forget thy kindred all, and fathers house most dear. Thy beautie to the King,Line 11 shall then delightfull be: And, do thou humbly worship him, because thy Lord is he.

The daughter then of TyreLine 12 there with a gift shall be, And all the wealthy of the land shall make their sute to thee. The daughter of the KingLine 13 all glorious is within; And, with embroyderies of gold, her garments wrought have bin.

She cometh to the KingLine 14 in robes with needle wrought: The virgins that do follow her shall unto thee be brought. They shall be brought with joy,Line 15 and mirth on every side, Into the palace of the King, and there they shall abide.
