Cum Ecclesia secularium Principum necessitatibus sponte communicat, necessarium eis susidium liberaliter impendendo, non est id liber tatis Ecclesiasticae praejudicium, sed officium potius chari∣tatis. This year the Archbishop of Canterbury and his Suffragans, instead of granting* 1.3 the King a Subsidie, or punishing incontinent leacherous Clerks, passed these severe Decrees against their Concubines only, principally intended against the Wives of Clergy-men, whom they deemed and stiled Concubines in that age.
