Of the Penance of Clergy-men.
ST. Gregory was of the mind, That a Clergy-man being Deposed, who had perform'd the Duties of his Function, ought to be depriv'd of the Communion, and put under Penance all the rest of his Life. Yet he leaves the Bishop at Liberty to grant him Lay-Communion, if he finds him worthy of it after he has finish'd his Penance, B. 4. Ep. 5.
