The Councils of Germany. The Council of Dortmund, held in the Year, 1005.
IT is related by Dithmar the Historian, that a great Council was held at Dortmund in West∣phalia July 7. A. D. 1005. in which the Emperor Henry II. complaining of the Irregulari∣ties * 1.1 in reference to Church-Discipline, induc'd the Bishops to revive the Ecclesiastical Laws, and to endeavour to reform the Exorbitances and corrupt Manners of the Clergy and Laity, by making divers useful Canons: But the Acts and Constitutions of this Council are lost.
