Committee.

COmmittee is he or they to whom the consideration or ordering of any matter is refer∣red, either by some Court, or con∣sent of the parties to whom it appertains: as in Parliament a Bill being read, is either con∣sented unto and passed, or denied, and referred to the consideration of some certain man appointed by the House, who hereupon are called a Committee. But this word is otherwise used by Kit∣chen. f. 160. where the widdow of the Kings Tenant is called the Committee of the King, that is, one committed by the ancient Law of the Land to the Kings care and protection.
