FAB. XLIV. The Wolf and Ass.
A Wolf, pretending Kindness, came to see
An Ass sick in his Bed, and near to death,
The Asses Colt then by his Father sate,
And saw the Wolf knock at the Stable door,
He lockd it first, then through a Crany spoke,
Who's there? what do you want? The Wolf replyd,
Fain would I know how does your Noble Sire,
To whom the Colt. Better than you desire.
