CHAP. VIII.

ALl the commandments which I command thee this day, shall ye observe to do, that ye may live a 1.1, and multiply, and go 〈◊〉〈◊〉, 〈◊〉〈◊〉 possess the 〈◊〉〈◊〉 which the LORD sware 〈◊〉〈◊〉 〈◊〉〈◊〉 fathers.

And thou shalt remember all the way b 1.2 which the LORD thy God •…•…ed thee those fourty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to * 1.3 prove thee to know c 1.4 what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or no.

And he humbled thee, and * 1.5 suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with * 1.6 Manna (which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know) that he might make thee know, that man doth * 1.7 not live by bread onely, but by every word that pro∣ceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD d 1.8 doth man live.

* 1.9 Thy raiment 〈◊〉〈◊〉 not old upon thee e 1.10, neither did thy •…•…oot swell f 1.11 these fourty years.

* 1.12 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that as a man chasteneth his son g 1.13, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

Therefore thou shalt keep the command∣ments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his wayes, and to fear him.

For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, * 1.14 a land of brooks of water, of foun∣tains, and depths h 1.15 that spring out of valleys, and hills.

A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig-trees, and pomegranats, a land of † 1.16 oil olive l 1.17, and honey.

A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without 〈◊〉〈◊〉, then shalt not lack any thing in it: a land * 1.18 whose 〈◊〉〈◊〉 are iron k 1.19, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass l 1.20.

* 1.21 When thou hast eaten, and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God m 1.22, for the good land which he hath given thee.

Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

* 1.23 Lest, when thou hast eaten, and art full▪ and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein:

And when thy herds, and thy flocks mul∣tiply,

and thy silver and thy gold is multiplyed, and all that thou hast is multiplyed:

Then thine heart be lifted up n 1.24, and thou forget the LORD thy God (which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

Who led thee through that great and ter∣rible wilderness, * 1.25 wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no wa∣ter, * 1.26 who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

Who fed thee in the wilderness with * 1.27 man∣na, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee o 1.28, and that he might prove thee good at thy latter end p 1.29.)

And thou say in thine heart, My power, and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God; for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth q 1.30, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testifie against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.
