CHAP. XXI.

1 AND the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, * 1.1 There shall none be defiled for the dead a 1.2 among his people:

2 But for his kin that is near unto him b 1.3, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother c 1.4,

3 And for his sister d 1.5 a virgin, that is nigh un∣to him e 1.6, which hath had no husband f 1.7: for her may he be defiled.

4 But ‖ 1.8 he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people g 1.9, to prophane himself.

5 * 1.10 They shall not make baldness upon their head h 1.11, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cutting in their flesh.

6 They shall be holy unto their God i 1.12, and not profane the Name of their God k 1.13: for the offer∣ings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God l 1.14 they do offer: therefore they shall be † 1.15 holy.

7 * 1.16 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane m 1.17, neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband n 1.18: for he is holy un∣to his God.

8 Thou shalt sanctifie him o 1.19 therefore, for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee p 1.20: for I the LORD which sanctifie you am holy q 1.21.

9 And the daughter r 1.22 of any priest, if she profane her self by playing the whore, she pro∣faneth her father s 1.23, she shall be burnt with fire t 1.24.

10 And he that is the high priest among his bre∣thren, upon whose head * 1.25 the anointing oyl was poured u 1.26, and * 1.27 that is consecrated to put on the garments x 1.28, shall * 1.29 not uncover his head y 1.30, nor rent his clothes z.

11 Neither shall he go in a 1.31 to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father b 1.32 or for his mo∣ther.

12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary c 1.33, nor profane the sanctuary d 1.34 of his God: for * 1.35 the ‖ 1.36 crown of the anointing oyl e 1.37 of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity f 1.38.

14 A widow g 1.39, or a divorced woman, or pro∣fane, or an harlot, these shall he not take, but he shall take a virgin of his own people h 1.40 to wife.

15 Neither shall he prophane his seed i 1.41 among his people: for •…•… the LORD do sanctifie him k 1.42.

16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, say∣ing,

17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed l 1.43 in their generations m 1.44, that hath any blemish n 1.45, let him not approach to offer the ‖ 1.46 bread o 1.47 of his God.

18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a ble∣mish, he shall not approach p 1.48: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose q 1.49, or any thing * 1.50 superfluous,

19 Or a man that is broken footed, or broken handed,

20 Or crook-backt, or a ‖ 1.51 dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken.

21 No man that hath a blemish r 1.52, of the seed of Aaron the priest, shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish, he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy s 1.53.

23 Onely he shall not go in unto the vail t 1.54, nor come nigh unto the altar u 1.55, because he hath a blemish, that he prophane not my sanctuary x 1.56: for I the LORD do sanctifie them y 1.57.

24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.
