2 He shall ‖ 1.10 enter into peace f 1.11: they g 1.12 shall rest in their beds h 1.13, each one walking i 1.14 ‖ 1.15 in his uprightness k 1.16.

3 But draw near hither l 1.17, ye sons of the sorceress m 1.18, the seed of the Adulteress, and the whore n 1.19.

4 Against whom do ye sport your selves o 1.20? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue p 1.21? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falshood q 1.22?

5 Enflaming your selves † 1.23 with idols r 1.24 * 1.25 under eve∣ry green tree s 1.26 * 1.27 slaying the children t 1.28 in the valleys u 1.29 under the clifts of the rocks x 1.30?

6 Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy por∣tion y 1.31; they are thy lot z 1.32: even to them hast thou poured a drink-offering, thou hast offered a meat-offer∣ing a 1.33. Should I receive comfort in these b 1.34?

7 * 1.35 Upon a lofty and high mountain c 1.36 hast thou set thy bed d 1.37: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.

8 Behind * 1.38 the doors also and the posts e 1.39 hast thou set up thy remembrance f 1.40: for thou hast discovered thy self to another than me f 1.41, and art gone up g 1.42: thou hast enlarged thy bed h 1.43, and ‖ 1.44 made a covenant with them i 1.45; * 1.46 thou lovedst their bed ‖ 1.47 where thou sawest it k 1.48.

9 And ‖ 1.49 * 1.50 thou wentest l 1.51 to the king m 1.52 with oint∣ment n 1.53, and didst encrease thy perfumes o 1.54, and didst send thy messengers far off p 1.55, and didst debase thy self even unto hell q 1.56.

10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way r 1.57; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope s 1.58; thou hast found the ‖ 1.59 life of thine hand t 1.60, therefore thou wast not grieved u 1.61.

11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared x 1.62, that thou hast lied y 1.63, and hast not remembred me z 1.64▪ nor laid it to thy heart a 1.65? have not I held my peace even of old b 1.66, and thou fearest me not c 1.67!

12 I will declare d 1.68 thy righteousness and thy works e 1.69† 1.70 for they shall not profit thee f 1.71.

13 When thou criest g 1.72, let thy companies deliver thee h 1.73: but the wind shall carry them all away i 1.74; vani∣ty k 1.75 shall take them l 1.76; but he that putteth his trust in me, shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain m 1.77:

14 And shall say n 1.78, * 1.79 Cast ye up, cast ye up o 1.80, pre∣pare the way, take up the stumbling block out of the way of my people p 1.81.

15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inha∣biteth eternity, whose name is Holy q 1.82, I dwell in the high and holy place; * 1.83 with him also that is of a con∣trite and humble spirit r 1.84, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

16 For * 1.85 I will not contend for ever s 1.86, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls * 1.87 which I have made t 1.88.

17 For the Iniquity of his covetousness u 1.89 was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me x 1.90, and was wroth, and he went on † 1.91 frowardly in the way of his heart y 1.92.

18 I have seen his ways a 1.93, and will heal him b 1.94: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him, and c 1.95 to his mourners d 1.96.

19 I create e 1.97 * 1.98 the fruit of the lips; peace f 1.99, peace g 1.100 to him that is far off, and to him that is near h 1.101, saith the LORD, and I will heal him.

20. But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt i 1.102.

21 * 1.103 There is no peace, faith my God, to the wicked k 1.104.
