1 * 1.1 AWake, awake, put on thy strength a 1.2, O Zi∣on, put on thy beautiful garments b 1.3, O Je∣rusalem, the holy city c 1.4: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee d 1.5 the uncircumcised e 1.6, and the unclean f 1.7.

2 Shake thy self from the dust g 1.8: arise, and sit down h 1.9, O Jerusalem: loose thy self from the bands of thy neck i 1.10, O captive daughter of Zion▪

3 For thus saith the LORD, * 1.11 ye have sold your selves k 1.12 for nought l 1.13, and ye shall be redeemed without money m 1.14.

4 For thus •…•…aith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into * 1.15 Egypt to sojourn there n 1.16, and o 1.17 * 1.18 the Assyrian p 1.19 oppressed them without cause q 1.20.

5 Now therefore, what have I here r 1.21, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away s 1.22 for nought t 1.23? they that rule over them u 1.24, make them to howl x 1.25 saith the LORD, and my name continually every day is * 1.26 blasphemed y 1.27.

6 Therefore my people shall know my name z 1.28: therefore they shall know a 1.29 in that day b 1.30, that I am he that doth speak, behold, it is I c 1.31.

7 * 1.32 How beautiful d 1.33 upon the mountains e 1.34 are the feet f 1.35 of him g 1.36 that bringeth good tidings, that pub∣lisheth peace, that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation h 1.37, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth i 1.38.

8 Thy watchmen k 1.39 shall lift up the voice l 1.40, with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see m 1.41 eye to eye n 1.42, when the LORD shall bring again Zion o 1.43.

9 Break forth into joy, * 1.44 sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem p 1.45: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

10 The LORD hath made bare his holy arm q 1.46 in the eyes of all the nations, and * 1.47 all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God r 1.48.

11 * 1.49 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence s 1.50, touch no unclean thing t 1.51, go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD u 1.52.

12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight x 1.53: for the LORD will go before you: and the God of Israel will † 1.54 be your rereward y 1.55.

13 Behold a 1.56, my servant b 1.57 shall ‖ 1.58 deal prudently c 1.59, he shall be exalted, and extolled, and be very high d 1.60.

14 As many were astonied e 1.61 at thee f 1.62; (his * 1.63 visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men g 1.64)

15 So h 1.65 shall he sprinkle i 1.66 many nations, the kings shall shut their mouths at him k 1.67: for that * 1.68 which had not been told them shall they see l 1.69, and that which they had not heard shall they consider m 1.70.
