CHAP. XLIII.

1 BUt now thus saith the LORD a 1.1 that cre∣ated thee b 1.2, O Jacob, and he that for∣med thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have re∣deemed thee c 1.3, I have called thee by thy name d 1.4, thou art mine.

2 When thou * 1.5 passest through the waters, I will be with thee: and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burnt; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee e 1.6.

3 For I am the LORD thy God, the holy One of Israel, thy saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom f 1.7, Ethiopia and Seba g 1.8 for thee.

4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee h 1.9; therefore will I give men for thee i 1.10, and peo∣ple for thy ‖ 1.11 † 1.12 life.

5 * 1.13 Fear not, for I am with thee; I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west k 1.14.

6 I will say to the north, Give up l 1.15; and to the south, keep not back; bring my sons m 1.16 from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.

7 Even every one that is called by my name n 1.17: for * 1.18 I have created him for my glory o 1.19, I have formed him, yea, I have made him p 1.20.

8 Bring forth the blind People that have eyes,* 1.21 and the deaf that have ears q 1.22.

9 Let all the Nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled r 1.23: * 1.24 who among them can declare this s 1.25, and shew us for∣mer things t 1.26? let them bring forth their witnes∣ses u 1.27, that they may be justified x 1.28; or let them hear and say, It is truth y 1.29.

10 Ye are my witnesses z 1.30, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen a 1.31: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he b 1.32: * 1.33 before me there was ‖ 1.34 no God formed, neither shall there be after me c 1.35.

11 I, even I * 1.36 am the LORD, and besides me there is no saviour d 1.37.

12 I have declared, and have saved e 1.38, and I have shewed f 1.39, * 1.40 when there was no strange god among you g 1.41: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

13 Yea, † 1.42 before the day was h 1.43, I am he i 1.44, and there is none k 1.45, that can deliver out of my hand l 1.46: I will work, and who shall † 1.47 * 1.48 let it m 1.49.

14 Thus saith the LORD your Redeemer, the holy One of Israel, For your sake I have sent to Babylon n 1.50, and have brought down o 1.51 all their † 1.52 nobles p 1.53, and the Caldeans q 1.54, whose cry is in the ships r 1.55.

15. I am the LORD, your holy One s 1.56, the creator of Israel, your king.

16 Thus saith the LORD, which * 1.57 maketh a way in the Sea, and a * 1.58 path in the mighty waters t 1.59:

17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power u 1.60; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise x 1.61: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow y 1.62.

18 * 1.63 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old z 1.64.

19 Behold, I will do a * 1.65 new thing a 1.66: now b 1.67 it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it c 1.68? I will even make * 1.69 a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert d 1.70.

20. The beast of the field shall honour me e 1.71, the dragons f 1.72 and the ‖ 1.73 † 1.74 owls: because I give wa∣ters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people g 1.75, my chosen.

21. * 1.76 This people h 1.77 have I formed for my self, * 1.78 they shall shew forth my praise i 1.79.

22. But k 1.80 thou hast not called upon me l 1.81, O Iacob, but thou hast been weary of me, m 1.82 O Israel.

23. Thou hast not brought me the † 1.83 small cattel of thy burnt offerings n 1.84, neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices o 1.85, I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wea∣ried thee with incense p 1.86.

24. Thou hast bought me no sweet cane q 1.87 with* 1.88 money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices r 1.89, but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins s 1.90, thou hast * 1.91 wearied me with thine iniquities.

25. I, even I t 1.92 am he that * 1.93 blotteth out u 1.94 thy transgressions for mine own sake x 1.95, and will not remember thy sins y 1.96.

26. Put me in remembrance z 1.97: * 1.98 let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayst be justi∣fied.

27. Thy first * 1.99 father a 1.100 hath sinned; and thy † 1.101 teachers b 1.102 have transgressed against me.

28. Therefore I have profaned c 1.103 the ‖ 1.104 prin∣ces of the sanctuary d 1.105, and have given Iacob to the curse e 1.106, and Israel to reproaches f 1.107.
