CHAP. XXI.
THE burden of the desert of the sea a 1.1. As * 1.2 whirlewinds in the south b 1.3 pass through c 1.4, so it d 1.5 cometh from the desert e 1.6, from a terrible land f 1.7.
2 A † 1.8 grievous vision g 1.9 is declared unto me, the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth h 1.10: * 1.11 Go up i 1.12, O Elam k 1.13; Be∣siege l 1.14, O Media; all the sighing thereof m 1.15 have I made to cease.
3 Therefore are my Ioins n 1.16 filled with pain; pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travelleth o 1.17 I was † 1.18 bowed down at the hearing of it, I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
4 ‖ 1.19 My heart panted, fearfulness afrighted me: the night of my pleasure p 1.20 hath he q 1.21 † 1.22 turned into fear r 1.23 unto me.
5 Prepare the table s 1.24, watch in the watch-tow∣er t 1.25, eat, drink: arise, ye Princes u 1.26, and anoint the shield x 1.27.
6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me y 1.28, Go, set a watchman z 1.29, let him declare a 1.30 what he seeth.
7 And he saw b 1.31 a chariot c 1.32 with a couple of horse∣men d 1.33, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels e 1.34; and he hearkned diligently f 1.35 with much heed.
8 And he ‖ 1.36 cried, A lion g 1.37: my lord h 1.38 h 1.39, I stand continually upon the * 1.40 watch-tower in the day-time, and I am set in my ward ‖ 1.41 whole nights i 1.42.
