CHAP. XII.

1. WHoso loveth instruction a 1.1, loveth know∣ledg b 1.2: * 1.3 but he that hateth reproof, is brutish c 1.4.

2. A good man † 1.5 obtaineth favour d 1.6 of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices e 1.7 will he condemn f 1.8.

3. A man shall not be established by wickedness g 1.9: but the * 1.10 root of the righteous shall not be moved h 1.11.

4. * 1.12 A vertuous woman is a crown i 1.13 to her hus∣band: but she that maketh ashamed k 1.14, is as rottenness in his bones l 1.15.

5. The thoughts of the righteous are † 1.16 right m 1.17: but the counsels of the wicked are * 1.18 deceit n 1.19.

6. * 1.20 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood o 1.21: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them p 1.22.

7. * 1.23 The wicked are overthrown, and are not q 1.24: but the house r 1.25 of the righteous shall stand.

8. A man shall be commended s 1.26 according to his wisdom t 1.27: but he that is † 1.28 of a perverse heart u 1.29 shall be despised x 1.30.

9. He that is despised y 1.31 and ‖ hath a servant z 1.32, is bet∣ter* 1.33 a 1.34 than he that honoureth himself b 1.35, and lacketh bread c 1.36

10. * 1.37 A righteous man † 1.38 regardeth the life of his beast d 1.39: but the ‖ 1.40 tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.* 1.41

11. * 1.42 He that tilleth his land f 1.43 shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons g 1.44 is void of understanding h 1.45.

12. The wicked desireth ‖ 1.46 the net of evil men i 1.47: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit k 1.48.

13. † 1.49 * 1.50 The wicked is snared l 1.51 by the transgression of his lips m 1.52: but the just shall come out of trouble n 1.53.

14. * 1.54 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth o 1.55, and the recompense of a mans hands p 1.56 shall be rendred unto him q 1.57.

15. * 1.58 The way of a fool r 1.59 is right in his own eyes s 1.60: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel t 1.61 is wise.

16. A fools wrath is † 1.62 presently known u 1.63: but a prudent man covereth shame x 1.64.

17. * 1.65 He that speaketh truth y 1.66, sheweth forth righ∣teousness z 1.67, but a false witness deceit a 1.68.

18. * 1.69 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword b 1.70: but the tongue of the wise is ‖ 1.71 health c 1.72.

19. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.* 1.73

20. Deceit e 1.74 is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21. There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.* 1.75

22. * 1.76 Lying lips are an a bomination to the LORD, but they that † 1.77 deal truly g 1.78 are his delight.

23. * 1.79 A prudent man concealeth knowledge h 1.80: but the heart of Fools proclaimeth foolishness i 1.81.

24. * 1.82 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule k 1.83: but the ‖ 1.84 slothful l 1.85 shall be under tribute.

25. * 1.86 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop, but * 1.87 a good word l 1.88 maketh it glad.

26. The righteous is more ‖ 1.89 excellent m 1.90 than his neighbour n 1.91: but the way of the wicked o 1.92 seduceth them p 1.93.

27. The slothful man q 1.94 rosteth not that which he took in hunting r 1.95: but the substance of a diligent man is precious s 1.96.

28. In the way of righteousness is life, and in the path-way thereof there is ‖ 1.97 no death t 1.98.
