CHAP. XXX.

1 AND thou shalt make * 1.1 an altar to burn in∣cense upon a 1.2: of shittim-wood shalt thou make it.

2 A cubit shall be the length thereof, and a cu∣bit the breadth thereof (four-square shall it be) and two cubits shall be the height thereof, the horns thereof b 1.3 shall be of the same.

3 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the † 1.4 top thereof c 1.5, and the † 1.6 sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof: and thou shalt make unto it a crown d 1.7 of gold round a∣bout.

4 And two golden rings shalt thou make to it, under the crown of it, by the two † 1.8 corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it▪ and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.

5 And thou shalt make the staves of shittim∣wood, and overlay them with gold.

6 And thou shalt put it before the vail e 1.9, that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy∣seat, that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.

7 And Aaron shall burn thereon † 1.10 sweet in∣cense f 1.11 every morning: when * 1.12 he dresseth the lamps g 1.13 he shall burn incense upon it.

8 And when Aaron ‖ 1.14 † 1.15 lighteth the lamps † 1.16 at even h 1.17 he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD, throughout your ge∣nerations.

9 Ye shall offer no strange incense i 1.18 thereon, nor burnt-sacrifice, nor meat-offering, neither shall ye pour drink-offering thereon.

10 And * 1.19 Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year k 1.20: with the bloud of the sin-offering of atonements l 1.21, once in the year shall he make atonement upon it through∣out your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, say∣ing,

12 * 1.22 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after † 1.23 their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul m 1.24 unto the LORD, when thou numbrest them n 1.25, that there be no plague amongst them, when thou numbrest them.

13 This they shall give, every one that pas∣seth among them that are numbred * 1.26 half a she∣kel, after the shekel of the sanctuary o 1.27, (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD p 1.28.

14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbred, from twenty years old and above q 1.29, shall give an offering unto the LORD.

15 The rich shall not † 1.30 give more, and the poor shall not ‖ 1.31 give less r 1.32 than half a shekel when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

16 And thou shalt take the atonement-money of the children of Israel, and * 1.33 shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle s 1.34 of the con∣gregation, that it may be a memorial t 1.35 unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

17 And the LORD spake unto Moses u 1.36, say∣ing,

18 Thou shalt also make a laver of brass x 1.37, and

his foot also of brass, to wash withal y 1.38, and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congre∣gation and the altar z 1.39, and thou shalt put water therein.

19 For Aaron and his sons * 1.40 wash their hands and their feet a 1.41 thereat.

20 When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not b 1.42: or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet that they die not: and it shall be a statute for e∣ver to them, even to him, and to his seed through∣out their generations.

22 Moreover, the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

23 Take thou also unto thee c 1.43 principal spi∣ces d 1.44, of pure myrrhe e 1.45 five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus f 1.46 two hun∣dred and fifty shekels.

23 And of cassia g 1.47 five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an * 1.48 hin.

25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy oint∣ment, an ointment compound after the art of the ‖ 1.49 Apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.

26 And thou shalt anoint h 1.50 the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony.

27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of in∣cense,

28 And the altar of burnt-offering with all his vessels, and the laver, and his foot.

29 And thou shalt sanctifie them, that they may be most holy; whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.

30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons i 1.51, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priests office.

31 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me k 1.52 throughout your generations.

32 Upon mans flesh shall it not be poured l 1.53, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you m 1.54

33 Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or who∣soever putteth any of it upon a stranger n 1.55, * 1.56 shall even be cut off from his people.

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and Gal∣banum o 1.57: these sweet spices, with pure frankincense, of each shall there be a like weight p 1.58.

35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a con∣fection after the art of the apothecary, † 1.59 tem∣pered together q 1.60 pure r 1.61 and holy.

36 And thou shalt beat some of it s 1.62 very small, and put of it before the testimony in the taberna∣cle † 1.63 of the congregation, * 1.64 where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.

37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to your selves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.

38 Whosoever shall make like unto that to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his peo∣ple.
