1. ANd Iob answered and said,

2. No doubt, but ye are the people a 1.1, and wisdom shall die with you b 1.2.

3. But * 1.3 I have an † 1.4 understanding c 1.5 as well as ye, † 1.6 I am not inferiour to you d 1.7: yea, † 1.8 who knoweth not such things as these e 1.9?

4▪ * 1.10 I am as one mocked of his neighbour f 1.11, who 〈◊〉〈◊〉 up in God, and he answereth him g 1.12: * 1.13 the just upright man is laughed to scorn h 1.14.

5. He that is ready to slip with his feet i 1.15, is as a lamp despised k 1.16 in the thought of him that is at •…•…ase l 1.17.

6. * 1.18 The tabernacles of robbers prosper m 1.19, and they that provoke God are secure n 1.20; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly o 1.21.

7. But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee p 1.22; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee.

8. Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee, and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9. Who knoweth not in all these q 1.23, that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this r 1.24?

10. * 1.25 In whose hand s 1.26 is the ‖ 1.27 soul t 1.28 of every li∣ving thing u 1.29, and the breath x 1.30 of † 1.31 all mankind.

12. With the ancient is Wisdom, and in length of days Understanding z 1.35.

13. ‖ 1.36 With him a 1.37 is Wisdom b 1.38 and strength, he hath Counsel and Understanding c 1.39. * 1.40

14. Behold, he * 1.41 breaketh down d 1.42, and it cannot be built again: he ‖ 1.43 shutteth † 1.44 up e 1.45 a man, and there can be no opening f 1.46.

15. Behold, he withholdeth the waters g 1.47, and they h 1.48 dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the Earth.

16. With him is strength and Wisdom i 1.49: the de∣ceived and the deceiver are his k 1.50.

17. He leadeth Counsellors away spoiled l 1.51, and ma∣keth the Judges Fools m 1.52

18. He looseth the Bond of Kings n 1.53, and girdeth their Loins with a Girdle o 1.54.

19. He leadeth Princes p 1.55 away spoiled, and over∣throweth the mighty.

20. * 1.56 He removeth away † 1.57 the Speech q 1.58 of the trusty r 1.59, and taketh away the Understanding of the aged.

21. * 1.60 He poureth contempt upon Princes s 1.61, and ‖ 1.62 weakneth t 1.63 the strength of the Mighty.

22. He * 1.64 discovereth deep things out of Darkness u 1.65 and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23. * 1.66 He encreaseth the Nations, and destroyeth them x 1.67: he enlargeth the Nations y 1.68 and † 1.69 straitneth them again z 1.70.

24. He taketh away the Heart a 1.71 of the † 1.72 chief b 1.73 of the People of the Earth, and * 1.74 causeth them to wander in a Wilderness where there is no way c 1.75.

25. They grope d 1.76 in the dark without light e 1.77, and he maketh them to † 1.78 stagger like a drunken man f 1.79.
