And he said, Take now thy son, thine onely son Isaac, whom thou lovest d 1.6, and get thee into the land of Moriah e 1.7: and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains f 1.8 which I will tell thee of g 1.9.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning h 1.10, and sadled his ass i 1.11, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up and went unto the place of which God had told him.

Then on the third day ‖ 1.12 Abraham lift up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

And Abraham said unto his young men, abide ye here with the ass k 1.13, and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you l 1.14.

And Abraham took the wood of the burnt∣offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son m 1.15, and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, my father n 1.16: and he said, † 1.17 Here am I, my son o 1.18. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering?

And Abraham said, My son, God will pro∣vide himself a lamb p 1.19 for a burnt-offering; so they went both of them together.

And they came to the place which God had told him of, and Abraham built an altar there q 1.20, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son r 1.21, and * 1.22 laid him on the altar upon the wood.

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

And the angel of the LORD s 1.23 called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abra∣ham t 1.24. And he said, Behold, here am I.

And he said, lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him; for now I know u 1.25 that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not with-held thy son, thine onely son from me x 1.26.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and look∣ed, and behold, behind him ‖ 1.27 a ram y 1.28 caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went, and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt∣offering in the stead of his son.

14. And Abraham called the name of that place ‖ 1.29 Jehovah-jireh z 1.30, as it is said to this day a 1.31, in the mount b 1.32 of the LORD it shall be seen c 1.33.

And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

And said, * 1.34 By my self have I sworn d 1.35, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing e 1.36, and hast not with-held thy son, thine onely son;

That in blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed, as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea † 1.37 shore, and thy seed shall possess the gate f 1.38 of his enemies:

* 1.39 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the Earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voice.

So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up, and went together to Beer-she∣ba: and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.

And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, * 1.40 Milcah she hath, also born children unto thy brother Nahor g 1.41.

Huz his first-born, and Buz h 1.42 his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram i 1.43.

And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

And Bethuel begat * 1.44 Rebekah k 1.45: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor Abrahams bro∣ther.

And his concubine l 1.46, whose name was Reu∣mah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Tha∣hash, and Maachah m 1.47.
