Vers. 2. ANd if any man thinke] That is, proudly conceits, that he knoweth any thing; he knoweth nothing yet as hee ought to know.* 1.1

Vers. 4. And Idoll is nothing in the world] That is, nothing subsisting in nature; or nothing in respect of the divinitie ascribed unto it, as the following words shew, and that there is none other God but one; but something in mans imagination,* 1.2 which giveth to it the honour of God; and reputeth it as God making it a God unto him∣selfe.
