THE place of the Olive-presses at the foot of Mount Olivet. In John, it is a garden beyond Kidron.k 1.1* 1.2They do not make Gardens or Paradices in Jerusalem because of the stink.〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉 The Gloss, Because of the stink that riseth from the weeds which are thrown out: besides, it is the custom to dung Gardens, and thence comes a stink. Upon this account, there were no Gardens in the City (some few Gardens of Roses excepted, which had been so from the days of the Prophets l 1.3) but all were without the walls, especially at the foot of Olivet.
