7. And as soon as he knew that he belonged to Herod's Jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also at Jerusalem at that time.
PIlate intended to have Herod's Opinion of Christ. Which was just as if two blind Men should judge of Colours, or pretend to guide one another; by which Attempt they both fall into the Ditch. O Jesu! What could Herod judge of thee, that knew not thy glorious Designs, nor had any Knowledge of thy Spiritual King∣dom! The Things of the Spirit are Foolishness to the Natural Man. So they have been to me: Before I knew what the Riches of thy Grace were, I had strange Thoughts of Holiness, and looked upon it as a needless thing. I prize it now; Thanks be to thee, who hast open'd mine Eyes, and not suffer'd me to continue in the Shadow and Valley of Death.
