6. When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked, whether the Man were a Galilean?
A Galilean was a Nick-name: And when the Jews called one a Galilean, they meant an inconsidera∣ble Person How meanly doth Pilate speak of thee, my Blessed Jesus! But he knew thee not. Had he been sensible of thy Divinity, he would not only have spoken of thee with the highest Respect and Veneration, and fallen down before thee; but wonder'd at the Mystery, that the Creator should thus suffer himself to be abused by his Creatures; and be content to be made an Ob∣ject of their Scorn, whose Souls and Bodies he might have lash'd with Eternal Fire. Ignorance wanders in the Dark, and passes by that Medicine which is of greatest Use, and yields the greatest Comfort. Oh, drive that Darkness from my Mind; and let me know nothing with that Delight and Satisfaction, as I do thee, my Jesus, thee my Crucified Redeemer.
