know the disposition of the Soul. By that, intelligent men feel the motion of the heart. The mischief is, that he who ought to be the most discreet, is the least. The wise man avoids fretting and enga∣ging, and thereby shews how much he is master of himself. He acts with circum∣spection. He is a Janus in counterpoi∣sing, and an Argus in discerning. Mo∣mus might have said with better reason, that the hands wanted eyes, than that the heart needed a little window.
