A Paisant beaten by his Wife, by Brauwer. EPIG. CXXXV. (Book 135)

THE Poor Man leads a cursed life, Is ridden by a rampant Wife. She Railing leaves, and falls to Blows, And in her Wrath no Mercy shows. In her a haughty Spirit's seen; In him Submission very mean. He couches like the worst of Slaves, She does the Wrong, he Pardon craves. Never was Female Hector painted truer, Than what is represented here by Brauwer.
