the external demonstrations thereof▪ and yet it can hardly be imagin'd how great a satisfaction it is to a man, to be treated with the ceremo∣nious part of courtesy and humanity▪ The reason of it may possibly be this, that every one is apt to think, that he deserves more than he receives, and consequently is disgusted when he perceives there is not that ac∣count made of him which he thinks due to him.
