IN Holsatia likewise,* 1.1 about Dith∣marsh, and the tracts of Wilstar, and Crempen, consisting of Low grounds and subject to inundations; Iohannes A∣dolphus, Duke of Holstein, beginning in the year MDCx. by notable works, with∣in the compass of five years, scured ma∣ny thousand acres, & improved the lands above three hundred thousand Dollars: which being effected, he parcell'd them out by gift or sale unto his Subjects; re∣serving out of every portion, a Rent unto himself; Tantum territorii subditis & ami∣cis cessit, ea lege, ut vel aggeribus cinga∣tur, vel ab aquis intestinis liberetur, & hinc quotannis celsitudinis suae aerario, certus Ca∣non, pro quolibet * 1.2 demeto numeretur, as the learned Schoneveldeus q 1.3 reporteth.
