THe first mention I find of this Family, is in 20 H. 7. Edward Denny* 1.1 beinga 1.2 then a Clerk in the Exchequer, and, at that time constitutedb 1.3 the Kings Remembrancer. To whom succeeded Anthony* 1.4 his son; who, in 34 H. 8. wasc 1.5 one of the Gentlemen of the Kings Privy-Chamber, and Groome of the Stole. And, in d 1.6 38 H. 8. King Henry then lying on his death-bed, when the Physitians discerned apparent symptomes of death near approaching, was the person, whom they imployede 1.7 to put him in mind, to erect his thoughts to Heaven, and be∣think himself of his fore-passed life; as also to implore the Mercy of Christ. Which he accor∣dingly did; thoughf 1.8 what he said, was not then very acceptable: but, being in fair esteem with that King, was constitutedg 1.9 one of His Executors; and appointedh 1.10 to be of Coun∣cil to Prince Edward, His only son and Succes∣sor.

To this Anthony succeeded Henry* 1.11 his son and heir. Who, by Honora his wife, daughteri 1.12 to William Lord Gray of Wilton, had issuek 1.13 one son called Edward, and four daughters; Anne married to George Goring of Hust-Pierpont, in Com. Suss. Esq Dorothy to ... Parney of ... in Com. Hertf. Catherine to George Fleetwood of ... in Com. Buck. and Eliza∣beth, who died unmarried.

Which Edward* 1.14 was Knightedl 1.15 in An. 1589. (31 Eliz.) and in 3 Iac. summonedm 1.16 to Par∣liament, among the Peers of this Realm. Also, by Letters Patentsn 1.17 bearing date 24 Oct. 2 Car. 1. advanced to the degree and dignity of an Earl, by the Title of Earl of Norwich. He marriedo 1.18 Mary, daughter to Thomas Earl of Exeter (by Dorothy his wife, daughter and co∣heir to Iohn Nevill Lord Latlmer) by whom he had issuep 1.19 one sole daughter and heir, called Honora, marriedq 1.20 to Iames Lord Hay, afterwards Earl of Carlisle, and departing this life ... ... was buried at UUaltham in Essex.
